Sorry, I know that only one of those answers is serious enough, but those were pretty big events I remember at the time.

EDIT: *slaps forehead* How could I have forgotten Lady Di died that year?! I'm so ashamed! ( :-O And the Pokemon seizure troubles.

Was it really 1997 the first Harry Potter came out? I thought it was 1998.
