We hope to travel from Ireland to Austin, stopping off at a major city (Ny, Chicago, Atlanta?) for 3 days, before travellign on to Austin. Then stay in Austin and then hire a car, drive to New Mexico stay a week there, and fly back home from Albuequerque. We can't find a website which can accomodate all this complexity. Can you help??????????? Also is it actually cheaper to book it all as one package rather than flight by flight????

I love to use expedia.com. You may not want to book through them and go directly to the airline or hotel website, but they will give you the options and let you know when the best times (for the best deals) to travel are.

I have found that on occassion Exedia will say that there is no availability at a specific hotel that I want, but if I go to the hotel web site directly I can book it for the Expedia price (usually much lower than you get if you show up at the hotel). The only thing with Expedia is that you will be charged for everything at the time of the online booking.

Continental Airlines has a hub in Newark New Jersey which is right next to, and a train ride away from pricy New York. You might consider this as a stopover where you can easily get into the city. You can get a flight from Dublin to Newark for about $500 round trip (they also do one ways).

They also have a hub in Houston, and you can get there from Newark for around $350 roundtrip. From Houston you could take a puddle jumper to Austin, and another to Alburquerque.

Continental also books hotels and cars so they might be a good choice.

I recently got a first class seat from Honolulu to Nashville for only $10 over the price of coach, so if you do go to their site check all the options. Flying is far more fun in first class.

try travel 4 or united vacations/funway it is probably cheaper to book flights separately than a whole package.
