They are better, but not as better as they say.

I'm assuming you mean the spiral flourescent bulbs which are made to fit into standard incandescent sockets. I purchased a pack of four from Costco and found they lasted a little longer than standard incandescent bulbs.
The quality of the light, however, is very different from the yellow-tinted incandescent, so if you mix/match in a multi-bulb fixture you need to be aware of that.
I was expecting a LOT longer lifespan from the way they're advertised, and didn't get that, but if the power usage is as miserly as they say they are, perhaps I saved a little on electrical costs. Didn't notice it in my bill, however.
Hope that helps. Best to you.

I've been using some for about 7 years. They just don't put out as much light as regular bulbs but I've saved $ on replacing bulbs. So make the call. m

Absolutly!! They run about 14 Watts and put off the light of a 60 watt bulb. They even have some that are dimmable now. I hightly recommend them. 14 watts is about as expensive as running two night lights.
Just be aware that most of them are slightly larger than a regular bulb, so they may not fit in some fixtures.

Yes they do.What really convinced me was the ones I used in my outdoor fixtures. They are still going strong 3 years later and
we have had some mean weather. My inside ones are a couple of years old and still fine.It does take a few seconds for them to reach their full illumination peak but I really like them. They use such a small amount of energy I don't think you can really trace
how much they really save because there is always something else on but I go by what the energy saving guide says.
Keep trying them,I'm sure you'll like them.

I just got a new house and all the fixtures were filled with the spirals.
I personally don't like waiting for the brightness peak, and I don't like the color of light they produce.
I changed all the fixtures to my favorite bulb, GE's Reveal. The light is great and shows true colors of paint, upholstery, etc.

I had some for at least 5 years...I can't say how long they really lasted because I moved and did not take them with me. I recently purchased some last month and have also resorted to putting night lights in my bathroom and living room instead of leaving my regular lites on for the kids at night.

I don't use the spiral ones, but I do use compact fluorescents. I have one burning 24/7 on my front porch. That lamp is almost 30 years old. It has been on constantly for years.

Yes, they work well and they are much longer lasting. The light is a little different, and it takes it a moment to come to its full brightness.
