Birth control??
I'm thinking about starting birth control, but me and my boyfriend dont have sex very often. I hear if I start and suddenly stop after a pack, I can immediately get pregnant. I don't completely understand. I can't get pregnant just from being off it, can I?

Can I still get pregnant if I stop the pill and we don't have sex after I'm off it?

If you stop suddenly, your chances of getting pregnant if you're sexually active, do increase dramatically. However, that's only if you're having sex. If you're not, there's nothing to worry about.

OK, firstly, it doesn't matter how often you and your boyfriend have sex, you MUST use some form or reliable protection if you want to avoid pregnancy, which I assume you do.

If you don't have sex very often, and if you're unsure about taking the pill, then perhaps condoms would be the best form of contraception for you.

If you're happy to take the pill (bearing in mind it does have other advantages, like shorter, lighter, less painful periods!), then there are a few things you need to know. You start taking the pill on the first day of your next period and for 21 days from then. And you are safe to have unprotected sex straight away as long as you take the pill EVERY day, ideally at the same time each day. After your 21 days of taking the pill, you have a 7 day break. During this 7 day break you are still covered for contraception if you choose to have sex, but during the 7 day break you will have your period, which may mean you don't actually want to have sex!!! But if you do, don't worry - it's safe.

From your question I kind of get the impression that you were hoping you could use the pill sometimes and not others........that's not a good idea at all. You should either decide to stick with other methods of contraception, such as condoms, or decide to go with the pill and take it regularly and for at least a few months before making any changes.

You can only get pregnant if you have sex, so if you stop taking the pills and you do not have sex you cannot get pregnant.
However if at anytime you stop the pills you body may be confused and you will release an egg, if you have sex then you can get pregnant with no pause.
You can also get a diaphragm which you only pay for once (plus the gel) (requirese fitting by doctor) and then only use it during sex. The same goes for condoms
Another choice is to use contraceptive gels, they are available in drug stores and grocery stores and are very effective. Just use it during sex

so many myths about birth control. Depending on the kind of pill you get, it could make you gain weight or lose weight or your skin could break out. If you do stop immediately it could throw your hormones off a bit. if you stop taking birth control, of course you can get pregnant again. Its like saying " if i used a condom once, do i not have to wear one every again". Dont worry. If you stop, than just make sure not to have sex unless theres more protection.

If your not having sex often than it might be better to just wear a condom... or spice things up :)

If you have unprotected sex you can get pregnant at any time if you are sexually active. No you can't get pregnant just because you stop taking birth control. That has nothing to do with it. It's the sex that makes it happen. The best thing to do is to talk to your Mom or your ob-gyn. I hope this helps.
