Can you predict who will recall a lot of dreams and who won't?
In studies that compare people who recall several dreams a week with those who recall one a month or less, the biggest difference is that the people who recall have a greater interest in dreams and therefore a greater motivation to pay attention to them. For some reason, these people have decided that their dreams are worth remembering. Sometimes it is because they had one that seemed to come true, or one that fascinated them. The main reason we know "interest" and "motivation" are important is the high recallers say on surveys that they think dreams are important. But we also know it because some low recallers are stimulated to recall when they read about dreams or take a class on them.
What does it mean if someone recalls no dreams at all?
In extreme cases of no recall, still another thing may be going on. These people may be dreaming very little or not at all. That probably sounds unlikely to most of you who heard growing up that everyone dreams at least during the four or five Rapid Eye Movement (REM) periods of the night. But the people who did that research in the 1950s and early 1960s may have jumped the gun a little because they hadn't studied the full range of people. Based on recent studies, including one using low recallers who were very low on visuospatial skills, it now seems probable again that some people don't dream.
Moreover, some people who suffer lesions in specific parts of the brain are known to lose their ability to dream for varying periods of time. These unusual cases show that it is possible to have the usual amount of REM sleep -- about 20-25% of the night -- and not dream. And to be mentally healthy without ever dreaming.
I agree about you most being likely to remember your dream if it's just before you wake up. Maybe set an alarm clock half an hour too early!
I'd also try to ensure that you're getting deep sleep, going through all the stages of sleep and waking up feeling properly rested.

Hi, I am sure you do dream, because almost everyone does; however, some people do not remember their dreams upon awakening; the dream recall does not require stimulants it can be learn-ed;
" I never dream" is a negative affirmation that might actually prevent dreaming or dream recall; please affirm a positive progress in dream recall --repeat to yourself--I am learning to recall my dreams, for example.
Also
try to learn about lucid dreaming and decide if it is for you.
Once you lucid dream well, it is easy to work on recall of deep sleep dreams.
Good luck and have sweet dreams.

You do dream but dont remember them. I think you dream just before you wake so maybe like someone else said, set your alarm clock earlier then go back to sleep and you may recall a drem.

I know a good blog about lucid dreaming, that includes learning to remember your dreams. Lucid dreaming is where you realise you are dreaming and do whatever you want, but anyway, here is the link to remembering dreams.
It takes practice thouhgh, if you want to remember your dreams try sleeping again once you wake in the morning, thats what i do

don't push yourself too much, let it happen naturally. keep a pen & paper by your bed & as soon as you wake up jot down key words that would trigger the dream happenings.
They say eating cheese, (someone posted about this on Yahoo answers, might one to do a quick serach)I can't remember which one but probably cheddar is very good for dreaming.

Yes, you do dream. You may not be able to recall the dreams the next day, but you do dream. We all do.
A dream has to be very vivid or disturbing for me to remember it the next day.

You do dream, everyone does, you just don't remember them. Try setting the alarm for the middle of the night - chances are you'll remember what you've been dreaming.
