This thursday the doc told me that I was in the early stages of labor at 37 weeks 100% dilated and 4cm. Contractions have been 7-8 minutes apart. From time to time I'll get some really bad contractions in my back and feel tons of pressure. I told the doc but he told me to stay home. I have GBS, Rh Factor as well as miscarried at 20 weeks last year. Should I talk to a different doctor about options? Walking works great and really gets them going but he wants either my water to break or 5 minutes apart on contractions. I'm really tired, weak and swelling really good in my feet. I have always been two weeks ahead in growth but think this will never end. Should I worry or wait for 5 minute spaced contractions. I need some advice ASAP. I don't want a sick baby. thanks.

Your doctor's giving you good advice. The GBS isn't an issue until your water breaks and most times isn't an issue you at all. The Rh factor isn't an issue that can't be handled.

I think you're mistaken, though. If you're 4cm, then you're not 100% dilated, I think you mean you're 100% efaced. Dilation goes to 10, so you're not 100% dilated. I know it may sound odd but with a second or more pregnancy, you will have real contractions and not be in labor. With my 3rd child, I had a ton of contractions the same way and then they'd stop. She ended up being 9 days late! Your body and your baby just aren't ready. 37 wks carries a high survival rate but it doesn't mean the baby's ready to face the world yet. Just try to be patient. I know it's easier said than done. All of my kids were overdue. And yes, it will end. You won't be pregnant forever, I'm sure you'll have your baby within 4 weeks. Just relax.

When your water breaks or you have the 5 min contractions, that will really be "it". Wait until then. Your baby will be fine. If you don't want a sick baby, why are you trying to convince it come out 3 weeks early?

If you're only 37 weeks I'm sure the doctor wants you to wait as long as possible. As you said you don't want a sick infant. It sounds like the baby could come quickly when you do go into actual labor so don't waste time contacting your doctor when your membranes do rupture. Try to take it easy, drink plenty of fluids, and make sure your blood pressure is OK. Keep in close contact with your doctor. Good luck!

wait until they are 2 to 5 minutes apart i went through the same thing your going through you will have your baby very soon within the week. now listen if you have any discharge at all no matter the color and its seems like egg substance than the means your waters are leaking than you can get your butt to the hospital right away. tell them you have discharge that isnt normal and they will test for it and you will then have your baby soon. good luck you will make it. and also as long as you can still feel your baby moving he or she is fine.

You aren't 100% dialated; you are 100% effaced. Go to the hospital.
