My brother hacked his DVD player so that it played any region DVD.

However it was a cheap one from The Warehouse so he wasnt too worried about the warranty - if you hack your player the warranty becomes invalid. So I wouldnt advise it if you have an expensive player.

Heres the list of hacks anyway: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

Just type your type of player into the search :)

North America uses the NTSC format for television images while I believe New Zealand used the PAL system. Either way you will have to have the DVD converted. Try a store that sells DVD's. They may be able to help or direct you to a conversion service

Get a multiregion player, so you can watch DVDs from anywhere in the world, or switch regions on the Windows Media Player on your PC to R1. You can switch a total of four times.
