The laundry product way of making snow by whipping it with water is hard to do nowadays because it used true soap (like Ivory flakes), not detergent. And Ivory is no longer made. You can try doing the same thing with scrapings off of a bar of Ivory soap, but it will be messy.

I like the suggestion in the other thread about cotton balls, or they could even use toilet paper or tissues (wad into a ball, possibly over a scrunched up aluminum foil shape, then glue two or three of the balls together... let dry overnight... paint on features and buttons, or use spices like peppercorns, etc.... could glue on some twigs from outdoors for arms, or add a bit of fabric around the neck for a scarf... if you want to get fancy and have some white glitter, they could paint the snowman body with white glue or thinned white glue, then sprinkle on the glitter).

You didn't mention the size though... that might mean you'd have to find larger balls of something to start with.

Good luck,

Diane B.

Usually, the snow made with deterent is for making snow banks around a flat mirror to show skating rink. to make a snow man may be difficult. But to make snow from deterent, get powdered detergent like "Tide" and put about 1/2 a cup in a bowl with 2 cups hot water. Beat thoroughly with electric beater on hi to make very thick froth. if you use this froth for snow banks or meadows, gently spread it thickly where you want it, when it dries, it is like fallen snow on a lawn and is durable with some care (object can be moved without problem)
But like I said, don't know if you have patience to form a snow man with it.

I used to make it many years ago, without measuring, pour powder in bowl, start out with 1/2 cup of powder just to test and add enough hot water a little at a time while using electric mixer until it is the consistency you want...Don't let it get too thick while mixing or it may get hard quicker than you wanted...
