Sorry Dave, your daughter kept me out really late last night and I just wouldn't be my best today. See you tomorrow?

At a previous job as the boss, the top two I've ever heard (no B.S.):
-A bull attacked my car last night so I can't come in to work.
-Someone firebombed my room and all of my clothes were destroyed. (molitov cocktail)
Both of these were true; I saw the car and read about the firebombing in the paper.

The last one I've used myself was years ago and I was out of the COUNTRY and called in saying, "...just can't make it in, sorry" with no further explanation. Hopefully you haven't missed much work before and it won't be a problem. If you have more than one boss or someone who can convey the message pick the easy way out, either the cool boss or maybe someone can call for you. Try to keep as much of the truth in it as you know you can get away with and work from there. Don't say anything that will involve them asking for a doctor's note, unless it's convenient for you to get one.

I have been up all night being sick, and although you feel a lot better now, you will stay at home to make sure you don't pass the germs on and so you can catch up on the missed sleep....

That way they will plan for you in the next day lol

my famous one is the furnace stop running, and got to wait for a fur nice man to show up.but if its not cold where you are that won't work. another would be,-your vehicle won,t start and you got to get someone to work on it. and if you don't have a car, then another would be-a bat got in your house, and you got to get someone to catch it.I f you don't have bats around there then another-you were up all night at the emergency room, cause they thought they had a heartattact.,and if you don't have anyone to stay up with then another-after all these excuses, then say the most common one,is that your sick ,and you have a slitting head ache.

The best excuse is to sound slightly weary, as if you've been up all night...and use Bill's Key Time Off Phrase:

"You really don't want to know the details, sir."

"I was on my way out the door when I tripped and broke my ankle. As I was crawling back into the house, a dog came up and lifted it's leg on my head. I crawled to the bathroom and hit my head on the cabinet door. I crawled to the living room and as I was about to call 911, my smoke detector went off. I crawled outside and a swarm of bee's attacked me. My house burned to the ground and my dog is dead. I don't think I'll make it to work today."
