I have a stick shift transmission and I always park it by taking it out of gearing and pulling the emergency break. However, lately my emergency break seems to be losing its holding power and the car starts to slowly roll even with the break up. Since it will be at least a couple of weeks before I can take it to the shop, I was wondering if there was another way to put it in park without it rolling? Thanks!

There is no reason to take your car out of gear while it is parked. In my opinion, by leaving it in gear, there is one more thing that is keeping your car from moving. In addition, this will also lessen the load on your E Brake. That being said, there is no reason your E brake should be failing, unless you are parking a tank (literally, not your familys 1982 Woody Station Wagon)

Always leave the vehicle in gear, revese, when you park it. Puts less strain on the emergency brake, which is the rear brake drum shoes being applied. So now you have less braking power

If it is facing up hill leave in gear and turn the wheels into the curb (so if it rolls it will roll into the curb)
If facing down hill put in reverse gear and turn wheels .

You can also chock a wheel(s) with a brick(s)

does no longer count number number which way, only get off the line immediately. do no longer position self assurance in emergency brakes only. If vehicle factors downward then depart vehicle in opposite equipment. If vehicle factors uphill then depart vehicle in First equipment. I under no circumstances use my brakes, it is continually in R or F equipment.
