nope... he based the story on a couple (an old one I think) that really was in the boat... and rose's room in the movie was the couple's actual room. And they decided to stay and die together.

No, and the sad thing is they could have used REAL stories that likely would have been better. How about that couple that got seperated at the sinking and thought the other died and found each other again in New York, I think it may have been awhile later but this is a true story.
