It makes them feel better about themselves and hides there insecurities by putting other girls down. I use to do this as a teenager and can't believe now I look back how shallow I must have looked to others.
If your on the other end of this kind of torture I'm sorry for you and my advice is to try to ignore it. Your the better person in the end. And if your the one dishing out this kind of behaviour take a good look at yourself and see what others see.
You'll have better quality friends if you stop.

Girls feel more "in charge" if they make fun of other girls. If this happens to you, just ignore them. If you do this to someone, STOP! It doesn't make you "cool". It is so mean that people will start disliking you instead of liking you.
