His hair is just starting to thicken up (he's 5 months old). Do I need to use one of those soft baby brushes or is there really no point?

Awe, love baby hair hehe. Use the brush whenever you feel you want to. There is no physical reason you should brush an infant's hair, but it's very cute and a special momment to share with your new baby, I say if you want to brush it, then brush it :) Your baby will LOVE it too, most do anyway :)

I brush my daughters hair. She really just started needing it around 12 months. I like brushing her hair right after a bath so that it dries flat and not all knotty. I also use the little combs somethimes. But the little soft brushes will not hurt his head in any way.

You can brush his hair whenever you want. It's best to use the soft baby brushes, because babies heads are really sensitive.

there's really no point in my opinion. everytime i would brush my daughters hair, it would be messed up two seconds later because she is was so active. but, it is up to you, and use a soft baby brush if you do decide to brush your lil man's part to the side!!! :o) good luck!

I would. My baby was born with a mop of hair so I got a soft baby brush and used it since she was born.

I find brushing the hair usually just makes it very static clingy.
