I need to politely say that I have decided not to go into an interview.

Thank them for the oppurtunity and let them know that you have decided on something else

Tell the place you applied at that you are no longer interested in the position and thank them for giving you an interview.

You could say that you have to finish a project at your present job and ask if you could reschedule. At least that way you keep your options open and you look like a loyal employee.

Tell them that youre sorry, and that you misunderstood the job, and you thought it was something different.

what that person said ^ just tell them, its not like you were a long time employeer they loved or anything... your just a person wanting to work there, NO BIGGIE.

call them and say you've taken another offer- happens all the time
