it's made of 92% acetate, 8% spandex. I've tried wetting the affected area and then ironing it but to no avail.

I substituted brown paper for greaseproof paper - didn't really work. and then I accidentally had my iron on high and burnt a bit of my dress! So I washed the dress in cold water - upon drying, the burnt mark is more obvious than the peg marks. :)

Do you mean the little marks left by clothespins or the ends of a metal or plastic hanger?

With the "stretchy" fabric content of your dress, this may be difficult. The answer about the brown paper was interesting. I would certainly try that.

Another thing you might try is washing the garment or wetting the affected areas and gently "work" out the marks with your fingers. Keep smoothing the fabric and gently tugging, etc to see if you can get the peg marks out. I'm assuming it's the shoulders that are affected. If so, you could try stuffing the areas, while they're wet, with rolled-up wash cloths to see if this will help. Shape the shoulders of the dress over the wash cloth. Dry the garment flat or on a hanger, placed beneath the wash cloths, of course. Frequently, "work" the area with your hands, smoothing and stretching the fabric.

If this doesn't help, maybe a dry cleaners could remove the marks. It's work asking, anyway.
