Take a deep breath, okay? Your mom can probably go with you. The blood test is very simple. They engorge your vein by tying a piece of rubber around your upper arm. Then they lightly slap your vein so they can see it better. Then they use a little needle and gently press horizontally against it. It is nothing like an IV, trust me. It is a lot less painful. It hurts a little, but it will be over soon.
When you first go into the office, let your nurse know that you're scared and react this way. That way they can prepare and soothe you. Bring something comforting or think of your favorite vacation while having your blood drawn. Remember to breathe in and out as naturally as you can. Vocalize your pain and fear because it helps. Everything will be okay as long as you relax and take it easy.

It stings a little, but usually isn't really painful. A few other people explained what will happen, so I'll skip that part. Of course your mom can stay with you...
Have your mom call the doctor's office and get a prescription for EMLA cream (it's topical lidocaine, like novicaine at the dentist, but goes right on your skin).
When you get to the lab, while your mom is signing you in, take a small amount (about the size of 1/2 a penny) and put it on the inside of both your elbows, where you can best see your veins. Or, ask the phlebotomist to put it on you and have them come back in 15 minutes. It completely numbs the area, so you won't have to worry about pain.
Find a focal point in the room - a clock, a picture, your mom's face, whatever. Focus on that, and on keeping your breathing steady. No need to look at what they're doing if you don't want to - I hate needles too, but I watch... for some reason it makes me feel better.

Yes your mom can stay with you, she can even hold your hand if you want her to. Ive had my blood taken numerous times, and I used to be as scared as you. The needle hardly goes into your skin at all! All you feel is a slight pinch. Have you ever stubbed your toe? Well, stubbing your toe hurts a wholeheck of lot worse than getting blood taken. You will be fine!! Especially since you are probably getting it done by someone who does blood drawing all day, they are pro's.

Just relax and it will be over in a couple of seconds. The only thing that kinda hurts in the needle prick, and then the rest is cake.

Good luck!!!

It's nothing to worry about.

I get squeamish too, but I take a few deep breaths and I figure, "Let me just get through this, and then I can cry and get all my feelings out afterwards." The longer you squirm, it'll take longer.

However, for me it doesn't hurt at all. Just relax your arm, and your mom can stay with you as long as you need her.

I'm the same way. I also bring a comforting stuffed animal from home that I can squeeze too. No sweat! Good luck! Once you face it, your worries will disappear.

Yes Mom can stay, usually phlebs deal with scared people and they know how to calm you down.

Pheb will put a tourniquet on your arm and wipe area with wipey, then stick you. Then they will attach the vaccutainer. It is where your blood will go and then they will pull out.

It is not that bad and the worse part is the actual stick, some people do not even notice it. Some like to watch others can not bear it. Just talk to your mom and phleb and tell them what your doing in school.

GOOD LUCK, you will be fine.
