The word in itself means different things to different people. Not all women are feminists. There are mass movements of men who are feminists as well. When I say I am a feminist, I mean that I believe in a political movement that changes, challanges and studies how people are inequal in social institutions, in history and in culture.
Feminism is a collection of social theories, political movements, and moral philosophies largely motivated by or concerned with the liberation of women. In simple terms, feminism is the belief in social, political and economic equality of the sexes, and a movement organized around the belief that gender should not be the pre-determinant factor shaping a person's social identity or socio-political or economic rights. A large portion of feminists are especially concerned with what they perceive to be the social, political and economic inequality between the sexes which favours the male gender; some have argued that gendered and sexed identities, such as "man" and "woman", are socially constructed.
Issues on which pro-feminists usually campaign include violence against women, sexism, inequalities in pay and promotion at work, pornography, sex trafficking, and women's rights to birth control.

I think it's different for every person. A feminist in Poland is totally different from feminist in Berlin (I say that from experience!). But when I say I am a feminist, I mean that I want to work for the equality of both sexes (though this generally means working for women's rights), as well as all genders. I think all people should be given equal rights, and currently, they aren't.

It means that they demand women have superiority in all choices in life. To a great extent, they have achieved that in the US and other western 'civilizations' with "no-fault" divorce, sex without any responsibility (men are always deemed responsible, women choose the responsibility they want), affirmative action, sexual harassment, suffrage, alimony, etc., while still maintaining choice over things that men are not allowed to choose similarly, IE selective service, front line warfare, less strenuous qualifications for careers, ability to be a stay-at-home or work outside the home, ability to divorce with a near guarantee of custody and a promise of up to 25% of her ex's income for decades, etc.
Anyone claiming to be a modern-day feminist that states they are for "equality" is a liar. Equality would mean lowering women's rights to equal that of men. This is the fight now, not equality but maintaining current and gaining further superiority.

Basically, I am a female nationalist. The prosperity and rights of my gender are the predominant aim of my political adealogy.
Of course feminists will say that feminists want equality for all. However, in reality, EQUALISTS want equality for ALL. Feminists want equality for women, masculinists want equality for men. Neither side cares about the other.
I don't see why feminism still exists. Every issue that it was founded on has been resolved. Women's suffrage, divorce rights, marriage rights, work rights, human rights, reproductive rights, everything! The only thing left to do is to create invisible dragons so they can be invisible dragon slayers.
Of course people with disagree with what I have said, but I challenge anyone to find a single feminist who has fought for men's rights. On the other hand, I can find many equalists who have fought for women's rights(Gandhi, the founding fathers, Lenin) . The irony is, most of these were men, whom feminism dictates are the sources of all women's problems. (not men's problems, of course)
Just to let you know, I love women myself. I think the world would be chaos without them, just as if there were no men. And i deeply respect any woman who stands up to feminists.

feminism
n 1: a doctrine that advocates equal rights for women
2: the movement aimed at equal rights for women [syn: feminist
movement, women's liberation movement, women's lib
The definition encompasses so much more today since feminist advocate for all groups that are faced with oppression, such as ageism, racism, ableism, etc. Feminists face concerns about the environment and how the world needs to deal with problems ecologically to protect our earth and an example of this would be the rain forests or some mining practices.

When someone says "I'm a feminist", it means he is a person, regardless of what gender he belongs, who fights for the rights of women.

Well, there is a negative relationship attached to this word. I am an active feminist. For years I have been involved with organizations that deal with women related issues such as pay equality, sexual harrassment, pregnancy issues on the job, etc. Feminism is not a bad word. It is basically a woman who maintains activism in female related issues. For example, through my work I have helped in areas that also benefit males but that throughout history have impacted more the female community. I recently participated on trying to raise the minimum federal wage. Now, I am also working to write policy that would benefit part-time workers with better medical plans and other employee related benefits. If you want to learn more go to the following websites:

It means their head is full of gas.
When it blows and your standing to close, that crap is going to get all over ya.
Ole callum, above, states, he does not see why feminism still exists.
Well... It's because men still exist. And, the feminists, thank God, don't have the complete control of men.
Beware, lest we fall.
