Anton Van Leeuwenhoek invented the microscope but due to the powers of the lenses was only able to view observations of muscle fibers, bacteria, spermatozoa and blood flow in capillaries

William Harvey discovered the circulation of blood. I would guess that when Van Leeuwenhoek invented the microscope that blood was probably one of the first things looked at.
