It depends on the art style that you are using. If you are drawing comic book characters, use colors, with little lines drawn next to the character.
If you are using fine art, trying using symbology. Use the symbol for eternal life, put into the background in some manner.
Try painting or drawing a person's spirit, walking out of their body, or something to that extent.

Can you draw a never ending spiral upwards on a flat paper?
A circle would do perhaps. If you come to the start point of the circle and then you go around and in the end you come to the end of the circle again, which is also the beginning of a new circle.
