I make candles for a living.. you really need to do a few things that really isen't worth your time or trouble.. but if they are speical to you, you will have to get a new wick.. then take a shallow pan of hot water, boil until the wax is melted.. very carefully I might add, then prep another container as the wax is melting.. pour it in and let it set up..
If it is just the scent you like, just go and get a candle warmer and set it on the hot plate.. make sure no kids can reach it..
Good Luck!!

Really not worth the hassle! But if you want to keep the glass, put it in the microwave (make sure there isn't any metal left from the candle wick.) and melt it that way. It may take some time to do this, but it is what I do. Then go buy some more candles. They are cheap.

This sounds weird but what I always do to get the bottom of the candle out is put it in the freezer for a couple of hours. If you melt it, not all of the wax will come out. After it freezes, you can use a butter knife (carefully) to pop the wax out. It stays in one piece that way.

I have done this. It's very easy. Using a pair of tongs to hold the glass, dip the lower part of the glass into boiling water for just 2-3 seconds. It will melt the wax enough to slide it out and throw away.
To clean the holder, use hot water and steel wool (grade 0000 - the least abrasive). Then drop in a votive. Voila!

Yep, I agree with the other answer..it is WAY too much of a messy, hassel...I've tried it! I always do save the good glass containers though. (I just KNOW they will come in handy someday!LOL) I always chip out any remaining wax that I can, and the metal wick holder, and then put just a little water in the jar and microwave it, then dump out whats left~outside~NOT in the sink;) Then repeat with some more water and wipe them clean with an old towel while it's still really hot. Works good, but you have to be very careful because they get so hot.
Good Luck!!

Is "Check Spelling" not working on this site? Not really going for points, but why not use the tools available to us?
