The best £30 I ever spent was getting my car properly valeted. It really is worth the money. Better than faffing around with all those sprays from Halfords. Let someone else do the hard work.

Depends if it average dirt or if it stained.

For average dirt and grime I use a cheap orange based cleaner found at dollar general ($1) I get a terry cloth damp with warm water and some cleaning solution maybe ten sprays of the bottle on a pre moistened towel.
Then on a freshly vacuumed seat I wipe the towel over the entire surface. This should not leave the seat wet if it does your towel needs to be rung out better. I wipe down everything including the seatbelts, headliner, plastics, etc. whenever I buy a car. Because it is gross otherwise.

For stains I use a non-pumice type hand cleaner ($1.59 from most autoparts stores). Usually it can be applied with an old toothbrush or a towel. You work the stain from the edges toward the center as not to spread the stain.

The stain removal works on both carpet and seats. To clean the carpets the first method can be used but will not be a great help on really dirty applications.

Good luck hope it helps.

Don't forget to clean the windows inside too. If it was a smokers car use the orange cleaner before you try to use Windex.

If you have a valleting service near you use them they will make your car like new, dont try it yourself you will soak your seats and it will take 4ever to dry out if it doesnt dry out right your carparts and seats will go moldy. A full inside vallet should cost no more than £40 and it is will worth the money.

Steam cleaning is probably the best, But upholstery cleaner from Halfords does a pretty good job too.
