I am so stuck on a assigment for a womans studies course. We have to do an "outrageous act" and then write about it. They prof said the act could be something like writing an editor about a sexist article, going in "drag", it can be really anything.

Writing letters is not challenging, and I'm not a man so me going in drag would be pointless...

Does anybody have any interesting/challenging ideas for an outrageous feminist act?

- Wear entirely comfortable clothes for a week. Wear nothing that is designed to make you "attractive" to the opposite gender. Record your experiences with both male and female friends (and strangers).

- Draw up a document vowing to keep your own name if you marry, or, alternatively, vow not to marry until EVERYONE has this right.

- Create a fundraising activity with profits going to Planned Parenthood, or a Big Sisters organization, or even the Girl Scouts.

- Organize a domestic violence or sexual abuse awareness event on campus. (The T-shirt/Dirty Laundry project, wherein women write down their experiences on a T-shirt and hang them all on a clothesline draped across the quad, or whereever, is a good one.)

- Keep a running count of how many women speak (ask questions, etc.) in one of your science classes. Keep the same count of how many men do. Post the results on the door of your science class.

What a fun assighment! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to brainstorm with you!

An outrageous act just makes women look crazy, not strong or smart like we really are.

Aim to be powerful and promote women in that way.
