I realize salt water makes people more thristy but why? The NaCl substance doesn't change the H20 substances they don't react and make a new substance that isn't water?

Drinking ocean water is a type of horrible irony.

Because of its high salt content, when you drink it your stomach tries to dilute the ocean water to that the salt concentration is at an acceptable level (what your body is used to).

Because the salt concentration is so high, this process dehydrates you.

I hope this helps!

The salt, through passive diffusion will cause your cells to lose water and lyse, or shrivel. Salt water makes you thirstier because you are dehydrating, or losing water.
