There is a civil suit pending right now because a black woman had some problem with her credit and she was turned down because of her "bad credit." There is another with the exception that she is a white female. There have been companies that have been sued over this and lossed. In those cases the companies changed their policies on credit checks for hiring especially if it does not involve money or management.

I think that is messed up. What if people have outstanding medical bills that have caused their bad credit? If they could get a job and pay the bills there would be no problem. This is another way the rich are keeping the poor "in their place". Outrageous!

It kind of depends on the job. I know that a lot of police departments look at an applicant's credit record to see how responsible they are financially- if they have a history of bad credit, bankruptcies, being delinquent with bills, etc then they may feel the applicant may be more likely to take a bribe, steal things on duty, open themselves up to situations where they or the department could be black-mailed, etc.

It depends on the job? If the job you are applying for is a high secured job, I would have to say yes. You dont want people selling secrets for money so they can get out of debt. If the job is for flipping burgers at BK than no.
