So, the number was 1170.

The mass production and build programme for U Boats during WWII was incredible in speed, accuracy and co-ordination. The German Navy accepted 1,158 U Boats into service that were built during the war.

they stopped making them during the war.
as for nuclear subs......who knows, probably none.

none. they were only built during ww11.
