First: eliminate parenthesis > use the Foiling method....

[(3)(3) + (3)(4i)] + [(4i)(3) + (4i)(4i)]

Sec: combine the terms...

[9 + 12i] + [12i + 16i^2]

9 + 12i + 12i + 16i^2

Third: combine "like" terms...

9 + 24i + 16i^2

*The i^2 becomes -1 >>> replace -1 with i^2.....

9 + 24i + 16(-1)

9 + 24i - 16

= - 7 + 24i

= 9 +12i +12i +16i^2
= 9 + 24i -16
= -7 +241

merely to diminish back-up what you've already been advised....this would't be solved, in user-friendly words simplified. get rid of the brackets and combine like words: (2+3i)-(-3+4i)? 2 + 3i + 3 - 4i 5 - i..........answer
