Of course, but is recommended you wait until the first trimester is over, even then don't bleach your hair other colors are fine, but they say the bleach has a chemical in it that isn't good for the baby!

Of course it is - there's a old wive's tale that the color won't take, but that simply isn't true.
I found this great resource for you:
HOW TO DYE YOUR HAIR WHILE PREGNANT:
Pregnant women should take extra precautions before making a change in hair color.
Instructions
* STEP 1: Talk to both your doctor and your stylist about hair coloring while pregnant before you touch your locks.
* STEP 2: Consider whether the chemicals in the hair coloring product may be harmful to you or the baby, and how the pregnancy-caused changes in your hair may affect the coloring process.
* STEP 3: Be sure to do a preliminary patch test to determine whether you will develop an allergic reaction to the hair coloring. This will also give you a chance to see how the color will look.
* STEP 4: Follow the directions on the hair coloring package for best results, or have your stylist do the coloring.
* STEP 5: Use a conditioner after coloring to keep your hair from drying out or breaking.
Tips & Warnings
* If you have applied henna to your hair in the last year, remember that you cannot perm it or use a chemical color over it.
* Avoid chlorine and saltwater for a few days after coloring your hair, as contact may cause adverse reactions. Remember that the sun's rays will cause your color to fade faster.
* Avoid getting solution into your eyes at all cost. Rinse well with tepid water and consult a physician should this occur.

I was told that it is okay to dye your hair when you are pregnant, but not to get any bleach on your scalp.
My friend does hair for a living and she agreed that it is safe.
When I was in my second trimester I got a hair dye with no ammonia in it. It did not have the harsh smell that other dyes do.
If you go dye your hair at a salon try to be the first appointment so you don't get high off of the other fumes.

Yes you can dye your hair. They recommend you wait until 12-13 weeks, so you are out of the "risky" part of pregnancy, as miscarriage chance goes down a ton in the 2nd trimester. And you need to do it in a well vented room. Open windows, or go outside. I personally didn't dye my hair while pregnant. Keep in mind, because of hormones your colour might not come out right.

doc says you'd have to drink enough hair dye ot kill you before enough of the chemical that's in it could pass through the placenta to kill the baby. Aka, the little bit that's in hair dye that may be inhailed by you or absorbed through your scalp isn't enough to hurt the baby. However, 1000x the amount can certainly cause birth defects. If you HAVE to dye your hair go for it, in a well ventilated area pls. If you just WANT to dye your hair, why risk it??? Just wait until you're not pregnant anymore. High amounts of estrogen in your body mostly likely wont let your hair dye properly anyway.

There is no conclusive evidence that colouring your hair during pregnancy may or may not effect your baby. I think it is a personal choice whether or not to take the risk. When I was pregnant with my daughter and even now during my second pregnancy I have refused to colour my hair or have acrylic nails just in case it has an effect on the baby. With saying that, I am a qualified hairdresser and like I said it's your choice many women do still colour their hair the whole way through their pregnancy. I just choose not to.

There are different opinions on this question...probably because there are so many different types of dyes...and some contain stronger or potentially dangerous chemicals. It is commonly recommended not to use hair dyes during the first 3 months. Best to ask your own obstetrician. See website below for info.

You should not dye your hair during the first trimester. After that, you can if your doctor gives you the ok, however, the fumes may make you sick since your sense of smell is really heightened right now. I would like to have my hair hi-lited, but I'm not going to as I don't want to take any chances of harming my baby.

Everyone seems to have mixed answers on this one. My OB said it was ok but others tend to think it's risky.
I think if you dye your hair you should do it in a well ventilated area.
I dyed my hair during my pregnancy with both our sons and everything turned out fine.
Good Luck!

I always waited until the end of the first trimester, when vital organs are done developing. If you're a do-it-yourselfer, then just make sure that you leave the bathroom door open or use in plenty of ventilation. I always put a fan in front of my bathroomdoor facing out to suck the odor away.
