Good reason for mining:
Tell me one thing that you use that are not dependant of mining.
Harmful effects of mining:
In my country, the cities are growing (over forests, rivers). We build cities with stones, iron, clay, limestone, etc. - all materials that are mined. The environmentalists live in cities and don't complain about then - only about mines.
What is worst (to the environment): a city like New York, Tokio, Mexico City or São Paulo or the mines that these cities need to keep their lives, water treatment, energy, goods etc. working on?
There are harmful effects - is easy to speak about then. But, the Human race has to solve this problem. Soon. To solve - not to fight without reasonably arguments.

heavily is this the type of s^%# that you do in colleges presently? The gold rush become regularly an economic adventure, no longer an environmental adventure. Ever been to Melbourne and considered all those alluring previous homes and structure contained in the city? properly, it become all equipped with gold rush money. the city of Melbourne became innovations-bogglingly rich from gold. finished cities which contain Ballarat were born out of very almost no longer some thing via gold rush. Australia became the richest usa contained in the international. So an thrilling question is - what become the destiny economic and social impact of gold on Australia? yet meh... they are no longer attracted to preparation the authentic stuff. ok, that is the outcome on our surroundings: a million. on the grounds that gold mining is truly localised, various our surroundings become unaffected. 2. aspects that were affected were truly switched over, with timber got rid of and local aspects of rivers spoiled. the wear and tear to river ecosystems seems to were non everlasting (i'm effective you'll lose marks for declaring that). 3. it encouaraged a huge immigration wave, which meant that extra desert became settled and equipped environments. that is about it. asking for 10 is merely ridiculous.

enviromental effects: dirty great big holes; destruction of habitat of little pretty animals, heavy metal pollution, industrial polltuion (from smelting etc) unsighlty and un-usable slag heaps, threats of landslides due to explosive use.
Good reasons: we need metals, and if we recycled more those effects above would be minimised. but we don't. mines are however often reconditioned (esspeciaily in MEDCs, in LEDCs, not so important) and after thier use provide unique habbitats for animals and plants. also, think of going throught your day without metals, electiricty (from coal to burn) and even buildings - chalk/ limestone for cement. we need mining
Harmful effects, same as enviromental; but to people general deanger of death in the mines, vitamin D defficency - from no sunlight, lung complaints, due to breathing in dust...... the list goes on and on
hope this helps
