I am amazed by the percentage of people who mention spiders. Yet the number one thing they should be at least aware of is a vehicle accident. Surprising what we take for granted and yet fear without due cause. I have never been "almost killed" by a spider but cars sure have threatened me plenty of times.

For me it would be coming face to face with a rabid dog and having no weapon handy.

Fire. When I was a little girl, the house right next door caught on fire. The fire originated in the basement, and a grandfather, adult daughter, and a little girl who I played with were all burned to death. It was horrible.
Then, when I was twelve, my house caught on fire. Thankfully, no one died except our pets.
Fianlly, I am in property management and one of my buildings caught on fire from a man smoking while on oxygen. he ended up dying int he blaze, and 32 families were displaced.

This was the catalyst to push me into the phobic realm as such pertains to fire. can you blame me? Hah!

Total darkness or being blind. It frightens me if I can't see anything. The fear of ever going blind would be enough to cause me to take my own life. I would not want to be in this cruel world without my sight.
