What was foremost about the Magna Carta was the notion of "The Divine Right of Kings"Prior to king John the ruling monarch had absolute power and could'nt be held accoutable for any wrongs. He could impose taxes as he wished. The charter made him nominate 3 nobles and the arisrocrasy also had 3 members If the king wanted to alter the status quo he had to call the nobles together and discus(parley)his proposal with them.It is from the word parley(french for talk)we get the name for our government(parliament)

The British Library, http://www.bl.uk/treasures/magnacarta/magna.html provides a digital image of the Latin original http://www.bl.uk/treasures/magnacarta/magna_main.html and an English translation of the sense of the words http://www.bl.uk/treasures/magnacarta/translation.html

It is commendable that you want to check the original, rather than just rely on your school's textbooks.
