How do you shrink a zip up Jordan (Melo) Sweater?

How do you shrink a $70 zip up Jordan (Melo) sweater with minimal damage to the zipper part of it? I got it as an X-mas present and its a little long. How do I shrink it without making the zipper all wrinkled and srunched up? Anyone?

Unfortunately, you can't shrink the length without affecting the zipper. Even if the sweater lost only an inch in length, you'd see problems.

If you really want to shrink it, you can remove the zipper (using a little tool called a seam ripper) then wash the sweater. Then take it to a place that does hemming and other alterations to have the zipper sewn back in. They would shorten the zipper at the top.
