Apply pressure, allowing it to clot. Do not tilt your head back.

Don't ever do what I did many years ago! I suffered with really heavy nose bleeds in the summer due partly to hay fever and a girlfriend at the time suggested sticking a lillet up to stop the bleeding... I did so and pushed it a fair way in and left it! Jesus H Christ... The pain when the thing expanded and I couldnt pull it out... Loads of tears!

Pinch your nose and hold your head forward. If you hold your head back, the blood will just flow down your throat.

I know this may sound funny, but it has worked everytime I have tried it... Hold up the arm that is opposite the nostril that is bleeding (for example, if your left nostril is bleeding, hold up your right arm) for about 20 to 60 seconds.

don't lean back b/c you're swallowing the blood. Just Sit look straight and grab a couple of tissues until it stops. If it doesn't stop in like 20 min. then you're in trouble & go to the hospital.

Try putting an ice pack on your nose it will help constrict the blood vessels to reduce the bleeding.
