Whenever I divide fractions, in my head I say "switch and flip!" thanks to my 4th grade math teacher.

You switch the sign between the fractions from a division sign (/) to a multiplication sign (x).

Then, you flip the second fraction over.

Taking your example:

(1/7)/(2/5) converts to:
(1/7)x(5/2)

Then all you have to do is multiply the top numbers together (the numerators), and put that over the bottom numbers multiplied together (the denominators). Sooo:

(1/7)x(5/2)= (5/14), also known as:
(1/7)/(2/5)= (5/14)

Good luck! :)

To divide a fraction, use the reciprocal (inverted numbers) of the divisor and multiply. Exp.

1/7 of 2/5 correctly expressed is 2/5 divided by 1/7
or (2/5) / (1/7) =
(2/5) * (7/1)= 14/5 = 2 4/5

When you divide with fractions, all you do is multiply by the reciprocal. For your example, it would be 1/7 * 5/2, if you want to divide 2/5 by 1/7.

You multiply the dividend by the reciprocal of the divisor (flip the second number {ex. 3/2 turns to 2/3}. For example, 3/4 divided by 2/3 would be 3/4 times 3/2 which equals 9/8

2/5 divided by 1/7 is the same as 2/5 times 7/1. You just flip the numerator and denomonator of the second operand and you'll have your answer.

nicely the respond to a million/2÷a million/7 is 7/2 u use that inverse rule while dividing fractions so a million/2÷a million/7 = a million/2 x 7/a million that's 7/2. basically reason i'd desire to confirm the respond being incorrect may well be with the aid of fact its interior the incorrect kind or some element, like 3.5 in decimal rather of seven/2 in fraction kind. desire that helped
