I am a teacher and it drives me crazy when people say not to do it because of the money!! I love my job! I know that I get paid less than a lot of other people, but I am happy doing what I do! Getting to know the kids is so amazing. If I were you I would get certified in as many areas as you can. With No Child Left Behind, most schools are struggling for "Highly Qualified" teachers. I got my degree in elementary, but took the certification tests for all subjects in middle school with the exception of science. So I now have the freedom to choose any subject First through Eighth grade. I think that Math is a good option because you will be more marketable and usually paid more. Good luck to you!

u need to do whatever makes u happier. come to my school and teach french! ha ha. our old teacher was a family friend who spoke English, french, and Cajun french (i live in south LA) and french was awesome last year. this year out teach is from Belgium and barely speaks English and is so hard to understand. if u obviously know English well but are good at french then do some children a favor and teach french... i take it u like that. or teach math,. I'm the best in my grade at math and love it, but i wouldn't be a good teacher because i cant explain how i get my answers well. can u? as for as the pay, does it matter wt ur friends think, they aren't the ones getting paid, its really rather u like wt u are doing or not.

I would like to be a Primary School Teacher, and I think the job is very rewarding. I don't think you should listen to what your friends say... I would rather do something I enjoy, making decent money, rather than doing something I hate, making a lot money. I'm in my second year of learning French, and I think you would be great at learning it. Don't worry about the R's. And I also think you should have a major and a minor... so you can teach both subjects Do whats in your heart!

If you live in the US then teach Math because the need for secondary teachers in that area is great and schools will pay you well to help kids pass standardized testing. If you live in the UK then either subject would be great.

You may want some teaching experience first. Teach something that you are familiar with at a Continuing/Adult Education School. Once you feel comfortable, you can teach French at the same school.

Do what you want to do and NOT what others want.
I think if the better subject is MATH then you should teach that subject. But that's because I've never had a good math teacher and regret my inability to do such things.
But that's my opinion and you should do what you really feel in your heart is right for you.

don't listen to you friends. teach if you want to. the salary is pretty good, even though it might not be as much as a doctor or actor. i think you should teach french because there aren't as many french teachers. your rs will get better if you listen to some french tapes or spend time in france. the kids won't be able to either, so it won't matter

I think you should teach whatever you feel comfortable doing. It's more important for students to have a teacher that cares about them than one who can roll their r's "properly". I teach high school and I love it, but there are certainly things that I'm not very good at doing, but I don't let that get in my way. Good luck wit your decision!!

I'm sure you could meet a Scotsman who would teach you how to roll your Rs. Try teaching....if the low pay gets to you, it's an easy leap into sales.

in this fast-paced world of hi tech and science stuff, kids would need a good foundation on math. math is a language used in different countries, and it would be great to have another dedicated teacher to help kids with problems in math.
