I blame it on the members of Congress whose main goal in life is to be re-elected. True that Bush lied and sold it to them as the war on terror, but they were afraid to vote against it would look like they were voting against the war on terror and would not be re-elected.

Well, I can support Hillary's statement on it that she made yesterday in Iowa. She accepts responsibility for her vote and she has stated that she regrets it. She then goes on to say, and I think she's right, that at this point it seems time to stop the blame game and start getting to work setting the mismanagement of this war to rights. I blame more people than just George Bush. I blame the Democrats AND the Republicans who voted yes with blind confidence in the President. I can deal with the ones, like Hillary and others (and this include Republicans as well), who will admit it was a mistake to do so. The only good to come from this is that I don't think anyone in Congress, Dem or Repub, will ever take what they are told at face value again by a President and his staff, especially when it pertains to entering a war.
Have you been following the Scooter Libby trial? Some very interesting information just came out of there this week about the uranium intel and the timeline of what happened. Seems that a great many of us were right. Before Bush gave his SOTU in 2003, Cheney had been notified that there was no truth to the uranium story by Wilson, the Ambassador he sent there to get details about it. So the Administration knew that intel was bogus, but still used it, in the SOTU Address no less, to persuade the American people, and the Congress, that WMDs were shortly to be on the horizon. I think everyone should have a problem with that, no matter what side of the aisle they hail from.

What are you saying? If you're saying that Bush didn't screw up the war, there are a few generals who would like to talk to you. And Rumsfeld is on line 2, Colin Powell is on line 1, but be quick, the White House is trying to keep him from revealing everything about how they bungled everything.
If you're saying congress went into this with accurate info, Where are the WMDs?
Bush And Cheney did dupe Congress and the nation. it's a major part of why they lost Congress for the GOP.

What may have started out as good, can change over its course. Let's look at the war in Iraq. Although, I opposed it from the beginning, many members of Congress did not, both Republican and Democratic.
Almost four years into the war, the course has changed. It changed a long time ago, but it took the majority of Americans until now to understand this fact. Most members of Congress are now asking the president ot rethink the surge in troops in Iraq. That is their prerogative, as elected officials. Most Democrats, and now many Republicans, are speaking out against Bush's failed policies in Iraq.
Simply, that is their constitutional duty to our country.

Well...At least you are making a pretense of fairness.I have been in Iraq, and my son is a USMC cpl. in bagdad. You can not trust the press ! This war is 100% necessary.
At least Bush and Cheney are honest about their beliefs, try finding a dem who hasnt changed sides 5 times depending on poll numbers !! If Bush could run again,I would GLADLY vote for him. This is the word of a US Marine corps.disabled veteran !!

There is no justification to any WAR. WARS are the tools of ancient uncivil times.
Today's civility can resolve and absolutly avoid blood shed by simply resolving the roots of conflicts peacefully.
As to Bush's and his clique issue, it's obvious to the majority of americsans they have made a wrong choice.

There was NO reason for NOT either having a FORMAL declaration of war, or NOT having war. The Cold War idea that war comes too quickly for that doesn't apply here.

I think Hillary said it right: Bush gave out bogus intel info to congress, and she voted on it in error without checking the facts (not that she could) and she takes the responsibility for being wrong.
Honesty. How refreshing.

I do not believe that you should blindly support anyone. Educate yourself, sift through all the "white noise" the media feeds us. Then decide where you stand and vote with your conscience.
