There is one question behind this question. If you thought something happened for a reason- that means that something that happened was purposeful, that someone or something purposed it to happen? Do you have an idea of who/what that person/thing is?

I do believe things happen for a reason and do believe in a God. If you do not believe in God then it would follow that you would not believe that anything happens for a reason.

But, even with believing in God- sometimes things do happen- not b/c God wants them to, but because they just do and there aren't good reasons. My father died from cancer when I was in third grade- why? I don't know. There isn't a good reason- I stopped looking and have come to grips with the fact that there isn't one. But, that God hates the fact that it happened more than I do and wants to comfort me. These are just some of my thoughts, it's a tough question.

I think life is totally unpredictable and there is no such thing as predestination. It makes no sense to think that a force is watching us and totally controlling life. If that were the case than how do you explain Innocent children getting molested... what could possibly be the reason or purpose for that?

I have always believed that everything happens for a reason. Maybe I'm wrong but it has helped me to accept thing in my life and at times when I'm thinking why-why I always find out why.

Everything that has happened in your life is your fault. If you llok back on everything there is always a reason why something bad/good has happened. So ,no, nothign happens without a reason. Everything in life is connected, and there is no such thing as "bad things happening to good people," because for something bad to happen to them they must have done something wrong. For example, everybody causes their own death:
~You die of a diease, it must be your fault for contracting it in the first place.
~Somebody murders you, you instigated it.
~You die in war, you knew what risks you had coming when you signed up.

When you think about it...life is simple. We (people) make it hard! Do guns kill people? Of course not, idiots kill people. Could two people live beside each other peacefully? Of course they could unfortunately, they choose not to because of envy and every other sin you can think of. The same relays to race, sex, religion, and every other topic that tears our nation and world apart.
