Nationally alone is not an indication of the way a person will live their life. There are other factors that come into play.
1)culture: religion, core values and common beliefs; anything that society around you dictates as right and wrong
2) social interaction: influence from authority figures, family, and peers; how you treat other people and how they treat you in return; attitudes towards people of certain groups
3) economic: access to resources and facilities (money, health facilities, education, etc.)

I am Caucasian and of a different nationality, people at my job have no problem speaking their mind about foreigners no matter how ignorant. How ever when I say something not beneficial to their believes they get mad at me , so NO, I MAY NOT SAY WHAT I BELIEVE!
On the other hand I have a friend/coworker who is black , from Africa , and when he is in the room they wont say a thing and wait till he is out, so they can say what they want!

Yes, being Indian and Hindu, there are a lot of prejudices and misconceptions that feed into people's impression of me. There are some that feed into the idea that all Asians are very math-oriented (not so much with me) and some that feed into the idea that we all worship cows (not true at all), and several more that I can't even think of or have yet to experience.

It's inevitable that, if you're slightly different, you will be viewed and treated slightly differently.
