Don't use paper towels on an LCD screen. They are too harsh and may etch the screen. Also, don't use any harsh solvents like ammonia that may remove the coating on the LCD screen.

Use a microfiber cloth and a cleaner designed for LCD screens, in order to be safe.

ammonia free window cleaner (Windex) and a paper towel. it really doesn't get any easier. Just don't apply a lot of pressure. if all you have is the kind of cleaner, just avoid contacting the side plastic fram around the actual display. the ammonia can, overtime, discolor the plastic and make it brittle. there are some small cleaning kits that have like some soft squeegy and spray, but they often leave streaks.
I use this method for bith my monitor and my 42" Plasma screen with no issues whatsoever. just use lintfee paper towel. if any dirt/dust/lint is left behind, you can use the canned air stuff (Dust-Off) to blow it away.
