It's a chevy caprice classic 93' It has over 170,000 miles on it. Other than that it's ran pretty well

And when we replaced the alternator we also replace the battery

something is not working right. Sounds like the car is running off of the battery alone, when the current goes low enough the car quits.

Fri st off did you charge the battery? if not you may have alternator
death , this occurs when alt goes to full charge made causing fail er , second has the battery been tested good or bad?
a shorted battery will discharge until dead then car will shut down. third you may have a ignition problem such as control module failure

sounds like you dint tighten the connections to the alternator enough and the car is running off just the battery. go back and double check all fittings to be sure they are tight and not broken.

the module.(has nothing to do with the alternator replacement)

please.
put the scanner on.

bring the maker name( and factory address)
year(moth,day and seconds)

millage(and the name of the person who put that millage)
model( and color)

resent work ,other then alternator( and the name of the machanic who does it)
