Go look up the Earths CIRCUMFRENCE ( I said diameter at first; my bad!)

divide by the 60 minutes in a degree.

then divide by the 360 degrees in a circle.

the answer is......

a Nautical Mile......(THATS where they got that!)

so a ( nautical) mile is a minute ( of Latitude)

latitude measures how far something is north or south of the equator, so 45 degrees N or S, would be 25% of the way down or up the planet roughly
