some fish (and loaches) like to jump -- its not really like its trying to escape -- it just likes to. whats weirder is once they start jumping they won't stop. its like programmed into it. you can find it out of the tank and on the floor and it will do it again when you put it back. this doesn't mean all dojo loaches will jump -- it means you got a jumper so you need to take added precaution that it doesn't get out.

your plantsshould go back to normal -- its best to keep them in a bucket of water while you are cleaning depending on the plant. some do fine out of water for long periods of time and some don't. they can be kind of dramatic and will look like they are wilting but are fine when they are back in the water. any growth that is actually dying (turning brown) you want to remove asap.

Dojos can be active when put into a new tank (or if remove from a tank for cleaning). They are also sensitive to changes in air pressure and become agitated when the pressure changes (why they also have the name "weather loach").

Some other things to consider:
1) temp. in the tank? - dojos prefer it cooler than most tropicals, so maybe it's too warm for him

2) they like to burrow in the substrate - if you have too big of gravel, it may not be able to burrow and is looking for a place to hide

The plants will come back, but these should be kept in a bucket of aquarium water or a closed plastic bag (water not needed) when taken out of the tank. You'll probably have some of the leaves die back if the plants have been out of water for a while - just cut these off and wait for new growth to appear.
