Don't apply the eyeliner too thick. People tend to associate thick eyeliner with Goths. Although you won't be at too much risk of 'looking goth' just by having dark hair and eyeliner. Being a goth is not just about the clothes, make up or music. It's an attitude and a way of life to. People think it's about the clothes, make up and music because many teens go through a 'goth phase' now a days, but it's a lot more for many other people. I know quite a few people who you could dress as 'normal' as you like but you can tell from the briefest glance that they are 'goth' although a lot of them don't like to be called goths lol

I'm pale as well so I don't use black I use brown instead. That gives it a less goth look to start off with. If your doing the bottom than just put a little eyeliner. Don't do it to dark. If you do the top than do a little at the crease of the eye but not so it's very noticable. I would use a light brown eyeshadow this with also help.

I worked in cosmetics for almost 2 years and we were always taught NEVER to put eyeliner on the bottom eye lid. Even though you are pale you CAN do just about any color on the top, as long as it flows with the color eyeshadow you are using. A trick to keep it from looking really dark is after you apply your liner to your lid, use a light color of eyeshadow and lightly brush it over the liner. It will tone down the liner itself and give a very subtle look.

Eyeliner is pretty tricky..the easy way to do is lightly press down your skin right under your eye..you will see a white rim right up your lower lashes....with your other hand smoothy place it on the line back and forth..i am suggesting a light brown eyeliner for you if you have light skin...also when applying eyeliner you might want to be looking in a mirror to make it a lot easier!

Try taking a liquid eyeliner with a hard point and then on your upper lash put it in between your lashes not on your eyelid. This gives a eyeliner effect but without smug worries and no freaky goth looks!

Use a gray or brown eyeliner instead of black. Apply a thin line to your upper eyelid- not the bottom one. I like to put a light eye shadow on after using eyeliner so it blends in and softens the smudging.

Just apply the eyeliner on the edge of your eyelids. Don't put any underneath your eyes. I'm kind of pale too, so I do that all the time. It looks so much better.

Use a powder based eyeliner which you can find at sephora.com it makes a softer line so it wont look that harsh and bold find it under bare minerals. Next do not choose any colors that are dark choose a soft blue or purple for brown eyes for blue eyes get a soft brown or pinkish color if you have green or hazel get purple.

Use brown eyeliner instead of black and use a smudger to even it out.
You can still use black and not have a "goth" look just use it very sparingly and blend it, you can also wipe away excess carefully with a tissue

mm you should get one of those dual pencils with a dark color and then like silver or gold or some shiny light color on the other side of the pencil
then apply the darker one like medium or light to the bottom and then smudge with your finger cuz a q-tip will basically take it off then apply the shinyish one over the black and smudge. then apply the shiny one to the top (only if you want to)
