I think the latest thinking is that the sun will go in about 5 billion years. That is a long time for a species to live. Even the so-called "living fossils" are a few hundred million years old.

Personally, I think if the human race can survive the next couple of thousand years, then we will be able to find a new place to live long before the Sun dies. Actually, I think the next few hundred years will be the most likely for us killing each other off, whether it's by nuclear bombs, global warming/pollution/destruction of the ozone layer, or some advanced technology like nano-technology in the hands of one or two evil people (imagine how damaging an army of self-replicating nanobots could be in the hands of a crazy person).

Probably the end of all humans. The Sun isn't expected to become a red giant for about 400,000,000,000 years, which is a looooong time! And I didn't just make up that number like you see so many people do on Yahoo! Answers; it is really the number estimated by scientists. 400 billion years.

Ok first we can not destroy the earth. this plant been through more then we can ever do. Now we might destroy ourselves but i doubt that as well. We are more resourceful and better at adaptation then any other creature. I would say the sun but i think humans will be living in space before then

Five billion years is a long time. For us to beat the Sun and get out, we first must be able to cooperate globally. We won't be able to destroy the earth, but we're perfectly capable of destroying ourselves. If we continue to ignore the long-term effects of our actions, we will destroy ourselves before the sun does.

I don't think humans are stupid enough to destroy themselves by nuclear wars, or pollution. Nowadays, measures to prevent such things are being taken. And I also think humans will get on other planets before the sun will explode, or they'll find another way out of it.

no because in able for us to find a planet to inhabit, it'll take years for us to find a planet build space ships for everyone around the world before talking to the president about the world coming to the end is 15 billion years and for science and biologist to go to the planet build an enivorment for human life to surive may take years of planning if we're not dead before or after global warming.
