For some time now my computer has not been playing sound through speakers, or headphones. I have both types of sound plug in,(parallel and on board). It all started when a friend of mine plugged in his mic to the computer and i believe my plug and play hardware changed my settings. I took it apart everything seems in order, all good connections and sound card seems not blown. Does anyone have any tips to help me out? Thanks

The microphone your friend used may have not had the correct impedance which would draw too much power and burn out the sound card. There may be no way to tell just by looking at the card, only the fact that you now have no sound. If you have any friend with a compatible sound card, try borrowing theirs. If it works than your sound card is toast and you need a new one.
