I agree with your partner totally, people have kids because it's what expected of them!
But who else will visit you and send you birthday cards when you get grey and old?!

Certainly during gestation a fetus is something that lives in a different organism. This parasite may be prevented by using condoms or other methods to inhibit the fertilization of the ovum in the female of the species. This is called birth control.
Another method to hinder the parasites goal of reproducing itself is to end its gestation within the host itself. For humans this is called abortion.
Once the parasite has developed to a particular stage it will often continue the life cycle by reproducing, some parasites accomplish this goal within the organism. With humans, the parasitic fetus leaves the host. This is called birth.
After the parasite leaves the host it no longer has the status of parasite, but is an organism in its own right. For humans, this is called a child.
Since the child no longer lives directly on or within the host organism, it is not a parasite.
In conclusion, a human fetus is indeed a parasite, but children are not.

I don't have children and my partner and I don't want them. I like my freedom and independence - I love children but just don't want them. I am not selfish or vain, I just have different priorities than women with children. I work very hard have an employed job and run my own business - pay lots of tax to contribute to child benefit and baby bonuses. What I don't like is smug mothers or baby bores who look down on women who dont' want to have children - they feel that somehow they are above other women because they have given birth and blessed the world with their spawn - some of my friends have children and the mothers are more nasty and competitive with each other than their children. Live and let live - motherhood is not for everyone - the worst ones are the women who have children because they think they should - weak.

Well if some one said you should say this stuff you obviously have no intelligent train of thought! I raised my son to a wonderful man . I have no problem with my body and at least I can say that I accomplished something I can be proud about .
you must be something that lives in a glamourpuss world were everything is perfect . well my friend that can dramatically change when you get hurt and dismember some part of you body, or God forbid your face could change for the worse ! what then ? so fly you wuss all you want , and be very careful as having a child is the least of your worries in life - not to mention your question is sooo idiotic and perverse because I would like to know if your parents think you are a parasite as well!
P.S. I HOPE YOU NEVER HAVE A CHANCE TO KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO LOVE SOME ONE AS MUCH AS A CHILD, BECAUSE YOU CERTAINLY DO NOT DESERVE THAT - EVER!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot believe you've asked that question, babies are the product of our sexual activity, they do not ask to come into the world, what's more if you think that babies ruin a woman's body then you must be walking around with your eyes closed.I for one have had 4 kids and my body's as good as it was before I had them. By the way, we give to our children because we love them, how can a defenceless child be a parasite, your head is up your arrrrrrrrse.

My kids won't be parasites. Kids are a joy and are little miracles. Now it may have been different for you but it doesn't mean all kids are parasites. It depends on how you raise them. As for body issues you can always fix that weather it be the gym or the plastic surgeons office. I'm willing to "wreck" my body to have little bundles of joy!
P.S. Don't be afraid to use the spell check...it isn't a parasite!

They could be considered true parasites only while they are inside the mother. Other than that they would only be a pest. I suppose.

We're all parasites of former parasites who themselves were parasites, and so on and so forth. You and your partner wanna fly? So be it when you can convincingly stretch your wings, but tell you what, never seen much of that around.
On the other hand, I've seen good, decent parents here and there.
Good luck
