I think that we don't need to buy too many players as we are on an impressive winning streak at the moment.
But realistically I think that we need some real class. I think that we need to forget spending £30m on 6 - 8 players and instead buy just 1 or 2.
Somebody like Podolski or Schweinsteiger who can both play on either wing or in the middle and both are true class. Failing that somebody like Vicente or Joaquin from Valencia (Rafa's old club).
I also think that we lack a versatile defender, I personally would like to see somebody like Gabriel Heinze as he appears to be available or Ivan Helguera.
I would also like to see maybe Andrea Pirlo in the red shirt, a midfield dynamo who is an exceptionally gifted player.
When we sell the club it would appear as though it will be owned either by Saudi Billionaires or an American Billionaire, but whoever takes over they will not be putting us into masses of debt unlike the Glazer Family at Mancy Urinals. So we will be able to afford the top class players.
Did you know - Liverpool are the highest spending club in English History on players, just we have done it over years and years not in 2 like Chelski.
Also did you know that Liverpool have won far more trophies than any other English side since the year 2000.

Firstly lets put a few ghosts to bed, owen had the opportunity to stay on at Liverpool but when Bentiz questioned his loyalty it was clear that he wanted more money and madrid got him. He is extrememly injury prone and he hasn't played for newcastle in nearly 4 monthes. Does any team need that sort of risk? No.
Secondly Benitez has been carefully selecting players who are a 10th of the cost of what chelski and man u can afford because that is his constraint. Caeful team selection has been the policy and some degree it's been working. The sheer ammount of clean sheets is testament to that. Remember that any new player bought i would have to gel with the team first before playing to full potential.
man u players for for majority of the team are getting on in age, sure the youth policy is there but fergie focusses more on his oldies. chelski just buy because they can, which also leads to unhappy players.
Players to look into buying if the deal comes through

I think Liverpool seem more keen on buying every fullback in the world than actually finding a decent right winger. They have missed on Simao and others and though Pennant is decent, is not world class.
Next striker: They should never have let Owen go. Crouch is a decent 3rd striker but he belongs on the bench. Bellamy and Kuyt seem to be doing well together, but is any of them worth the regular goalscoring that Owen was?

Well, personally, I'd say liverpool are in need of a couple of classy side backs, another moderately well known midfielder and simply a game-breaking striker e.g Rooney, Ronaldo.
Crouch is very good but he doesn't have the pace of other strikers and the ground skills. Look at Man. U. They're way ahead and they use two running strikers in Rooney and Ronaldo. A mix of Crouch and one of those two or someone similar would give Liverpool good flkexibility and a mix of talents. Just my opinion.

Pool won't win the EPL with Benitez...
They should bring in a 'league' manager not 'cup' manager.

First of all, Liverpool needs a new and more reliable goalkeeper. Next they did to get a winger. Gerard needs to play in midfield and not right wing. They also need to get more and better defenders, in case of injury. They should get strikers who are young and hunger for success.
Finally, they need a new manager. Benitez does not seems to be able to get his tactics right for EPL. He is able to excel in Champions League but not EPL.

you should have gone for Beckham and you missed out on Ballack. Rooney is a Blue - so forget that and Larsson is great but wants less hassle and just forget the top names in Spain and Italy
They should have gone for the boy Lennon at Spurs, Dyer at Newcastle, Wright - Phillips at Chelsea, Burke at Glasgow Rangers and Maloney at Celtic and the young lad at centre back for Southampton Bale with the goalie at Hearts Craig Gordon
BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN BACK - OWEN
