In Canada our socialized health care does work well, right now we have a severe shortage of doctors and nurses...so much so people are being asked not to retire at 65 or before. I am 33 and have never had to wait long, or had appointments/ or the 2 surgeries I have had canceled. I see one poster writing how we often go to the states for services. Yes some Canadians do depending on what they need done and the wait times. But how can one complain because the government pays for the medical treatment and in some cases reasonable out of pocket expenses. That is the glory of the Canadian health care system.

My opinion:
Is health care necessary? Obviously you have been blessed with good health; I have seen babies born with cancer.
We most certainly do need affordable health care for everyone, but first we need a thorough, bipartisan investigation as to why it is not.
Why are CEOs of hospitals and health care facilities paid salaries and bonuses in the millions? Why does a simple, routine blood test cost hundreds - when we have sophisticated machines to do most of the work and analyzing. The cost of health care and prescriptions is ridiculous.
From what I've seen, and from having had sickness in the family I've seen bills from doctors, labs, hospitals, etc., it is not the individual doctors making the lion's share of the money - it is hospitals and labs.

We need to stop insurance companies from raking in huge profits at the expense of their customers. And don't forget the illegals and people who can't pay. This drives the cost of healthcare up also.
Shutting down facilities won't help. I'm beginning to believe that since Medicare is already in place, and has SOME semblance of working order, they should turn that into a universal healthcare plan for everyone who needs it.

If I understand your intent correctly........
This is exactly what the administration wants of the weak and sick.......for them to be gone!
They have learned from examples of the past to not be so overt in the extermination of the weak and poor!
Blonde--Blue eyed Master Race has turned into Rich--healthy--party liners!
Same result ......different approach!
With all we know now ......does anyone still believe Aids/HIV was a surprise? Something that wasn't allowed to permeate our society?
The intent of the pharmaceutical companies IS NOT to cure illness!
If they wanted to CURE illness it would be done already!

A good solution would be to take health care away from all politicians, especially Republicans, and wait until they're sick.

Health care is available. If socialised medicine worked so well, we would not have so many Canadians and people from other countries coming over here to get surgeries, etc. because they have to wait to long to get them where they live. Many die before they can get the medical attention that they need.
