This is a history assignment and I am very confused...I have searched on Google and Ask and have not found anything. I source of where the info came from would be nice, but definately not necessary! Thanks in advance...

The Muslim world was a great powerhouse of learning and science until about 500 years ago, then suddenly semed to grind to a halt, and Europe took over. they invented many of the tools used to take accurate measurements, such as the astrolobe - a forerunner of the sextant.
