Well it all depends; Is this friend very close? Do you trust this friend with your ipod? Also, consider if you will miss your ipod? Do you think you can survive without it for a year? If your answer to these questions are yes, than why not let your friend borrow it. But, if your answer is no, than it probably won't be a good idea.

I'd say no; a year is a long time to let someone borrow something. I personally use my iPod a lot and letting someone borrow it for long periods of time, or even at all, is a not. If she thinks she's going to need it for a year, I would suggest that she get her own iPod.

Its up to you, but I would probably say no.

ipods are expensive. do you want to give it to her?

That is an expensive present .. but that is what she really is asking. For you to give her that iPod.

It reaks of gold-digging and mooching.

Of course if she gives YOU expensive presents, then perhaps you own her one.

And did YOU buy it? If it gets gone and parents are involved, this will get sticky. Saying Oh I let "Sally" use it for a year won't cut it.

Can you trade? Does she have something near equal value that you would want MORE than that iPod?

Some people have a terrible streak, and it exists in all ages. I watched a small child love to "borrow" friend's toys from those whom would share and then shriek "mine mine mine"

.. this sounds simular but only you can tell.

If it's a video Ipod I'd say don't under any circumstances, they're hard drive is far too fragile to take any abuse. As far as a Nano goes, I would "rent" it to her, with a signed contract saying she will replace if it falls short of condition that you stipulate (functionally working perfectly, no huge cosmetic abuse). I would say $10 a week would be about right.

NO. Ipod are not cheap, and you will be worrying about it throughout the year. Don't you want to use your own ipod from time to time. Does she really have a valid reason for wanting it? Is she responsible with her other stuff. Me personally that is a long long time to lend anybody anything. They might start to think that they own it and you don't.

I don't think that is a good idea. Are you willing to part with your iPod for a YEAR? What are you going to do when you want to use it?

Absolutely not. Who paid for that iPod. Do you know how much they cost? Tell this gold digger to buy her own.
