A common problem with a new zippo is overfilling. i suspect in your case gas is evaporating and filling the empty spaces in the lighter with gas fumes displacing oxygen. try blowing on the wick to force fresh air around it. It should light correctly.

First let all of the air out of it, then refill it with butane. Next, watch to see if it has a spark at all, if not, throw it away, if it does, make sure the little wire that sticks down in the lighter is bent and pushed as far as it will go. If the spark can't reach it, it won't light.

Best you check again, all three can`t be fine, or good, and it not work. Who installed the wick? I would start there.

I would return it to where I purchased it. It just could be defective.
